15th Bologna Winter School
Bioinformatics for Biological Complexity
How far are we from unravelling cell complexity? The question poses when considering all the sequencing efforts that allow an unprecedented richnes of information on the molecular composition of the different cell compartments where biological processes are ongoing and the exchange between them and cell environment. Proteins, their interactions, the interactions of proteins with nucleic acids can be explored at large with different approaches. The results make it feasible to investigate cells from different organisms and differently specialized tissues and specifically their interactions with the environment under different conditions. Will all this help in devising better models of System Biology? Which type of algorithms do we need in order to process data and link them in a hierarchical way so as to generate a complex model for cell complexity? These issues will be addressed during the 15th edition of the Bologna Winter School focusing on the state of the art knowledge necessary to integrate notions of computer science, mathematics, and information theory to model and analyze biological systems.

Il Caffè della Corte: corte Isolani, 5B
Tel: +39 051 261555
How to get to Il Caffè della Corte:
From the train station take the public bus, #27 or #25, and get off at the first stop after the Due Torri. The entrance to Corte Isolani is located at #19 on Strada Maggiore.
From the Due Torri, the two towers at Piazza della Mercanzia, follow along Via Santo Stefano. The entrance to Corte Isolani is located at #18 along this street.
From the highway we recommend driving towards the center of Bologna and leaving the car in a parking area along the viali, which is the street that circles the perimeter of the historic downtown. Traffic is limited in the downtown area and allows only those vehicles with proper permits to drive inside the historic area.
Bus schedules can be obtained at the official TPER website.
